It started with a door

ProofLedger began with a simple question, asked while watching someone badge through a door: the system just let them in — but is anyone keeping that record, and could you trust it if it ever mattered?

The answer, it turned out, was often no. Plenty of companies install excellent door hardware. Far fewer give a second thought to the access logs that hardware produces — the quiet record of who went where, and when. Those logs frequently live on local panels that overwrite themselves, sit inside the same system the building’s own managers can edit, and vanish the moment they’re actually needed: a dispute, an HR matter, an insurance claim. The one record that could settle the question is gone, or worse, changeable.

ProofLedger was built to fix exactly that gap.

What we do

We are an independent administrative-technology service based in Burnaby, British Columbia. We don’t sell locks, run wires, or touch your security hardware. We do one thing, and we do it well: we take a copy of your existing door access logs, seal each one with a cryptographic fingerprint the instant it arrives, and preserve it on Canadian servers where no one — not your managers, not us — can quietly alter it after the fact.

The word that matters most is independent. Because we sit separately from the company that controls your doors, the people who manage access aren’t the same people holding the proof. That separation is the whole point. It’s what turns a log into something you can actually stand behind — tamper-evident records for insurance claims, HR disputes, and compliance reviews.

Where we’re headed

We’re starting in British Columbia, with small and mid-sized commercial businesses, and building toward a simple standard: that preserving access records independently becomes something every careful organization just does — the same way they back up their files or carry insurance.
